Introduction
Applying Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills to the Driving Task

You will need to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively operate a vehicle. In this module we will
begin this process by introducing you to basic maneuvering tasks in low risk environments.

Low Risk Environment Topics
Topic 1—Basic Maneuvers

You will learn the appropriate procedures to enter and start the vehicle, enter roadways, maneuver the vehicle in reverse
with competency and stop the vehicle by braking, releasing motion/kinetic energy.

Topic 2—Vision and Perception
You will gain an understanding of the basic components of vision, and how to utilize this ability to visually synthesize

information from the driving environment..

Topic 3—Controlling Risk Using a Space Management System
You will learn about space management, to search and evaluate the traffic environment, and how to respond

appropriately.

Topic 4—Developing Good Driving Habits
You will learn how developing and consistently applying good driving habits will contribute to your becoming a safe

driver.

Each topic contains a series of lessons, followed by workbook questions and a quiz.  When all topics, workbook
questions, and the quizzes are successfully completed, you will be able to take Module Three test
